The Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC), through its Centre of Excellence, Kerala Network for Research Support in Higher Education (KNRSHE), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Thursday.
The formal signing ceremony took place at the office of Higher Education Minister R. Bindu.
KSHEC vice-chairperson Rajan Gurukkal, member secretary Rajan Varughese, Registrar Beena Rani, research officer Sudheendran, UoH Institution of Eminence director M. Ghanashyam Krishna and Research and Development Cell director Samrat L. Sabat were present on the occasion.
According to a press note, the agreement establishes a focussed platform for collaboration, specifically aiming to enhance access to high-end research facilities and support the professional development of faculty and researchers. Under the KNRSHE initiative, the partnership will facilitate joint academic and research projects and foster sustained institutional ties between State universities and the UoH.
The collaboration is also seen as a vital step in the KSHEC’s mission to modernise the research landscape in Kerala through structured cooperation and the sharing of advanced research infrastructure.
Dr. Bindu emphasised that such partnerships are essential for enhancing academic standards across the State, and to ensure that researchers have the necessary tools and networks to conduct globally competitive research.
The UoH will offer 50 summer internship opportunities to four-year undergraduate programme students in Kerala as part of the MoU.
