Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU), in association with the Small Animal Veterinary Association, Kerala (SAVAK), will organise an Academia Practitioner Conclave for Small Animal Healthcare at Thrissur on September 19.
It will be inaugurated by K.S. Anil, Vice-Chancellor, KVASU, at 4 p.m. at Hyatt Regency.
Officials said the conclave would bring together university leadership, Deans, faculty members from clinical and para-clinical disciplines, and practising small animal veterinarians to discuss emerging requirements in veterinary healthcare and their implications for veterinary education and professional training.
A key focus of the deliberations will be on ‘equipping veterinary graduates with the competencies required to meet emerging global challenges and opportunities in veterinary practice’. With companion animal practice becoming increasingly specialised and technology-driven, the discussions will examine ways of strengthening clinical skills, exposure to emerging technologies, professional competencies and continuing education to enable graduates to work effectively in a rapidly evolving veterinary healthcare environment.
The conclave will also consider the growing need for trained allied professionals to support modern veterinary practice. Possibilities for introducing ‘structured certificate and diploma programmes’ through the University to develop career-ready allied veterinary professionals will be discussed.
