Labour codes will benefit management, not employees, say speakers at seminar

The labour codes introduced by the Central government in place of the 29 labour laws will benefit only the management and not employees, said speakers at a seminar on ‘Labour Codes’ organised by Save Public Sector Committee, here on Saturday.

LIC Employees Union Zonal Secretary (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka) G. Tirupathaiah highlighted that the new codes did not offer any guarantee of minimum wages and would make formation of unions a difficult task in the future.

B.R. Ambedkar Mission secretary and lawyer A. Sampath Kumar said that any issue would be settled only under the purview of the Constitution, and hence deviating from the existing laws and withdrawing the powers of unions would not be accepted. He called the Constitution as the guiding light for amicable settlement of all issues.

Save Public Sector Committee convener A. Raghunatha Reddy, employee leaders Avadhanam Srinivas, K. Jagadish and others took part.
