The Left Democratic Front surged ahead in seven of the 11 assembly constituencies in Kannur district within the first hour of counting on Monday (May 4, 2026), establishing early leads in several key segments, including Payyannur and Taliparamba.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, contesting from Dharmadam, opened with a lead of 576 votes, reinforcing the Left’s early advantage in the constituency. The front also maintained leads in its sitting strongholds of Mattannur, Kuthuparamba, and Thalassery.
