Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner and Additional Election Authority Ketan Garg on Saturday (September 26, 2026) directed officials of all departments to work in close coordination and make fool proof arrangements to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the local body elections in all 120 wards under GVMC limits.
The Commissioner held a teleconference with officials of all GVMC departments, Zonal Commissioners of all zones functioning as Assistant Election Authorities, and concerned staff, and issued several instructions regarding election preparedness.
Addressing the officials, Commissioner Ketan Garg directed them to thoroughly examine every aspect of election arrangements in all 120 wards under GVMC limits. He particularly emphasised the need to scrutinise voter lists police station-wise and ensure that there are no errors in voter details. He also instructed officials to verify photo electoral rolls polling station-wise and maintain all relevant records accurately.
Subsequently, a day-long training programme on election management was conducted for Assistant Election Authorities, Returning Officers, and concerned staff at Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College.
During the training programme, master trainers provided comprehensive guidance to the officials on various aspects of election management. They explained the procedures for identifying polling stations, scrutinising voter lists police station-wise, preparing photo electoral rolls, providing basic amenities at polling stations, and discharging the responsibilities assigned to election officials.
