IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh met Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar on Thursday and suggested that the two States work together for the development of a bilateral (coast-to-coast) logistics and commercial corridor to share best practices in private port concessions and port-led industrialisation.
Mr. Lokesh observed that if Gujarat on the west coast and A.P. as the gateway on the eastern coast move forward in coordination, maritime and port-based industries would achieve significant progress. Andhra Pradesh was building non-major ports at Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam and Mulapeta on the lines of the Gujarat model of maritime sector.
He praised GIFT IFSC for standing as a landmark for international financial services and innovations in the country and explained the strategies being implemented by A.P. for the development of modern business districts in Visakhapatnam and Amaravati.
Mr. Lokesh sought the support of the Gujarat government for knowledge exchange on single-window clearances, developer incentives, and regulatory structures implemented in the GIFT City. He stated that A.P. was developing a semiconductor and green energy ecosystem and integrating it into the industrial supply chain, and invited Mr. Patel to participate in the Vijayawada Utsav, scheduled to be held from October 11 to 20 at Punnami Ghat, and Godavari Pushkaralu coming up in the year 2027.
He also requested allocation of land for the construction of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple under the aegis of the TTD in Gujarat. Rajya Sabha Member Sana Satish was present.
