Lokesh inaugurates two government schools renovated under P4 model in Nellore

Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh inaugurated two government schools — RSR High School in Stonehousepet and Devireddy Sarada High School in Mulapet — renovated under the Public-Private-People Partnership (P4) model as part of his SPSR Nellore district tour on Wednesday.

He received a grand welcome from Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister Ponguru Narayana, MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Kandukur MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao, District Collector Himanshu Shukla, and Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajitha Vejendla.

Government schools in Nellore are undergoing a new transformation with a corporate-style approach. Under the leadership of Mr. Lokesh, dilapidated school buildings are being developed using CSR funds and equipped with comprehensive amenities, Mr. Narayana said.

Under the P4 initiative, 15 government schools are being revamped in the city. VRC School has already been modernised. Additionally, RSR High School was renovated at a cost of ₹8.3 crore with the support of VPR Foundation, a service-oriented non-profit organisation of MP Prabhakar Reddy. Devireddy Sarada High School was renovated by DSR Group with its CSR funds of ₹13.40 crore.

Both schools have special facilities including digital classrooms, LED screens, modern restrooms, language labs, labs for computers, robotics, astronomy, physics, chemistry, and biology. Spacious sports complex and playground have also been set up with the aim of enabling students to excel in sports alongside academics.

After inaugurating the school buildings, Mr. Lokesh inspected the classrooms, laboratories and the dining hall. He interacted with the students and inquired about the quality of the midday meal. He urged them to study well make their parents proud. Later, he conducted a review meeting with the officials.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the low attendance of students and inquired about the reasons behind it. He directed the officials to focus on student learning outcomes and lauded the increase in student enrolments when compared to the previous year. Mr. Lokesh also urged the students to achieve good results in Class X examinations.

Subsequently, the Minister attended the unveiling of the statue of former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N.T. Rama Rao near Saibaba temple in Kovur. He visited the constituency for the first time since the alliance government came to power. He was welcomed amid sounds of firecrackers, Kolatam and Garagallu dance performances, and a cavalry procession. He then participated in the TDP cadre meeting.
