Lokesh urges TDP cadre to gear up for upcoming local body polls

After unveiling the bronze statue of former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N.T. Rama Rao in Kovur on Wednesday, IT Minister and TDP national working president Nara Lokesh participated in a cadre meeting. He called upon the party workers to ensure a landslide victory for the alliance candidates across the State in the upcoming local body elections.

Speaking at a coordination meeting with party workers from the Kovur Assembly constituency, he said, “Local bodies elections are scheduled for October and November this year. The responsibility of effectively countering the malicious propaganda of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) lies with the party cadres.”

Citing some instances, he said, “We witnessed several dramas of the YSRCP during the elections. It is not possible for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and myself to personally handle every issue. Unlike them, we do not own dubious newspapers or TV channels. However, we have cadre strength. If we all start speaking up, the public will not believe their false stories.”

“The alliance government is providing pensions on a scale unmatched anywhere else in India. Under ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ scheme, we provide financial assistance for every school-going child in a family, and we also offer free bus travel for women under ‘Stree Shakti’ initiative. We are implementing various welfare schemes for farmers, weavers, drivers and fishers,” he claimed.

Mr. Lokesh claimed that the alliance government deserves credit for filling 16,000 teacher posts and 6,000 police constable positions. “We have successfully attracted prestigious projects such as Google and Royal Enfield to the State. We are effectively driving both development and welfare forward,” he said, alleging that the YSRCP government did not fill a single teacher post during their tenure.
