Restore Naganakulam Lake

With the water level in Naganakulam Lake receding, this is an opportune time to clear the dense growth of lotus creepers and remove plastic and other waste around the lake.

The National Highways Authority of India, the custodian of the lake, and the Madurai Corporation should jointly undertake cleaning, desilting and deepening work. Damaged granite benches should also be replaced, and additional seating provided for visitors.

Timely action will help improve the lake’s water-holding capacity and ensure better water security.
