A man who was attacked with a wooden log during a quarrel near Sivaganga died in the hospital. Police have arrested one person in connection with this incident.
Babu, 60, was a resident of Bose Road in Sivaganga and worked as a carpenter.
On August 1, he had gone to his native village of Baganeri. At that time, some people were drinking alcohol near the panchayat office. A quarrel broke out between Babu, who went there, and them.
They attacked Babu with a wooden log. Severely injured, he was admitted to the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital.
However, he died on Tuesday without responding to treatment.
Regarding this, Madagupatti police registered a case against four people—Panneerselvam, 53, from Nerpukapatti, Chinnathirugnanam, 32, from Baganeri, Shyam, 27, and Ilanthirai—and arrested Panneerselvam.
The search to nab the other four accused is under way.
