A man has been caught on camera unleashing a calf from a cowshed near Karamadai in Coimbatore district, allegedly during an attempt at bestiality, on Monday night.
Sources said that a dairy farmer from Chinna Vadavalli near Karamadai complained to the police that a migrant worker employed at an industrial unit subjected a calf to sexual assault on multiple occasions over a period of about three months.
“The family had been finding the calf unleashed in the cow shed in the mornings on multiple occasions over the past three months. After noticing a naked man moving near the cowshed one night, they initially installed a low-end surveillance camera. However, they could not identify the person unleashing the calf. The family recently installed a motion-detection camera, which recorded a bare-bodied man unleashing the calf and leading it out of the shed on Monday night”, said a source.
The stranger managed to escape by the time the family received an alert from the surveillance camera system and carried out a search. However, they noticed that his clothes had been left in a bucket near the cowshed. People from the locality waited for some more time and caught the man when he came to collect his clothes. He was eventually handed over to the Karamadai police.
“Initial investigations show that the man is a native of Bihar and had been working in an industrial unit at Chinna Vadavalli for the past nine months. A government veterinarian examined the calf and collected swab samples from its private part for a laboratory examination. The police received the complaint from the farmer and issued a CSR,” said V. Balakrishnan, anti-cruelty officer with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Police sources said the man would be arrested soon.
