Man held for attacking estranged wife in Tiruvottiyur 

The police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly attacking his estranged wife with an iron rod in Tiruvottiyur.

The police said the 26-year-old woman, a resident of Lakshmi Amman Nagar in Ambattur, had separated from her first husband and later married Harikaran, 27, of All India Radio Nagar in Ernavoor, with whom she has two children. About three months ago, she moved to her parents’ house after becoming estranged with Harikaran. On Saturday evening, when she went to a tailor shop near her parent’s house, Harikaran waylaid and abused her. He attacked her with an iron rod and threatened to kill her. He then fled the spot, the police said.
