The police on Wednesday (September 23) apprehended a man who severed his neighbour’s right arm over a property dispute. V. Aruchamy (45), a resident of New Arjuna Colony at Odaiyakulam near Anamalai, was detained by the police for chopping the arm of M. Murugan (50).
Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that a civil dispute had been prevailing between Aruchamy and one Rajendran regarding a 10-foot vacant space situated between their houses. Murugan had allegedly intervened in the dispute in support of Rajendran.
Murugan and Aruchamy had a verbal altercation over the matter near Odaiyakulam panchayat office around 3.15 p.m. on Wednesday. As the altercation escalated, Aruchamy chopped Murugan’s right arm. Murugan was immediately rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The Anaimalai police rushed to the spot and secured Aruchamy. Further investigation is on.
