Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Monday that the decision of the Railway Ministry to transfer the Mangaluru railway area from the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway to the Mysuru Division of South Western Railway will solve operational problems.
Stating that he met MPs from Keralam, the Minister posted on X: “We discussed operational issues in Mangaluru. The Mangaluru railway area was divided into three different zones, which was creating serious operational problems. The decision to keep Mangaluru in SWR will solve the operational problems.
“We also discussed the development of the railway network in Keralam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has increased the allocation for Keralam 10 times to ₹3,795 crore for FY26-27. This amount was just ₹372 crore in 2014. I also discussed the matter with Kerala Chief Minister V. S. Satheesan…”
The post also gave details of the railway investment made in Keralam and mentioned land acquisition issues in Keralam in completing sanctioned projects.
