Aiming to create awareness among voters and ensure 100% polling in the Assembly election scheduled for April 23, 2026, a unique mascot titled “Vaakku Arasan” (King of Votes) was launched here on Friday.
The mascot was unveiled at Saminathapuram in Modakkurichi taluk by SKM. Maeilanandhan, executive chairman of the SKM Group of Companies, who has been selected for the Padma Bhushan 2026 for his contributions to spiritual education, public health and social welfare. District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy and Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency Priya were present.
Featuring a lion’s face and an ink-marked finger symbolising voting, the mascot has been designed to reflect the pride of the district. Mr. Kandasamy said it would serve as a distinctive identity for the district during the election process and encourage voters to exercise their franchise. The initiative is part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.
