The former president of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti Deepak Dalvi, who campaigned all his life for the inclusion of Belagavi and other Marathi-speaking areas in Karnataka into Maharashtra, died in Belagavi on Tuesday.
He was 84.
He suffered for sometime from age-related ailments, family sources said.
He was arrested during several agitations. He was known for his speeches laced with anecdotes and historical references.
The final rites were conducted in the Shahapur graveyard on Tuesday.
