The search for Parvez Dharwad, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) at the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) in Gadag, who went missing after allegedly leaving behind a letter citing increased workload due to a shortage of government funds, has yielded no breakthrough.
Gadag Superintendent of Police Mithun H.N. told presspersons on Monday that five teams had been formed to trace the engineer, with two teams currently conducting searches in Andhra Pradesh.
He said that as Mr. Parvez was not using a mobile phone or making any online financial transactions, it had become difficult for them to trace his whereabouts.
The Gadag SP also said that in 2024, a missing-person case involving him was registered at the Betageri Extension Police Station.
Meanwhile, JD(S) leaders visited Mr. Parvezâs residence in Gadag on Monday and spoke to his father, Jafarsab. Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who spoke to Mr. Jafarsab over the phone, assured him of requisite support. Mr. Kumaraswamy reportedly told him that they were looking into the matter and would wait and watch the governmentâs action.
On Monday, members of the District Minoritiesâ Federation also staged a protest demanding that the missing engineer be traced. They later submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner C.N. Sridhar.
In the letter reportedly left behind by him, Mr. Parvez had mentioned mounting work pressure arising out of a shortage of funds and had also mentioned taking the extreme step of ending his life.
