The father of 14-year-old Surya Prakash, who drowned at the beach near the IT SEZ in Visakhapatnam, reached the city from Abu Dhabi late on Saturday, after efforts were made to facilitate his return to India.
Surya Prakash’s father, Bhaskar Rao, was working in a company in the UAE. According to the family, the company had initially refused to grant him leave following his son’s death, making it difficult for him to return to India.
Following the issue, Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao took up the matter with Special Commissioner of the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi. Mr. Ganta also sought assistance in coordinating with the Indian Embassy representatives to facilitate Mr. Rao’s return to Visakhapatnam.
After reaching the city, Mr. Bhaskar Rao said the efforts of the MLA helped him return to Visakhapatnam and enabled him to see his son for the last time.
Surya Prakash was among the boys who were swept away by strong waves while playing in the sea near the IT SEZ Junction in Visakhapatnam on Friday. His death left the family devastated, and raised concerns about the safety of youngsters visiting the beach.
