More than 400 of the promises made by the DMK during the last elections have been fulfilled, stated DMK MP Kanimozhi in Ramanathapuram.
The DMK election manifesto preparation committee meeting was held in Ramanathapuram under the leadership of DMK Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi here on Tuesday.
Addressing the press there, she stated, “Out of 505 promises made by the DMK during the last elections, more than 400 have been fulfilled by the DMK government. A few promises could not be implemented due to a lack of cooperation from the Union Government, while others are under consideration,”
“Regarding the Congress, individuals may say anything, but there is a good relationship between leaders of the DMK and Congress. It is AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami who tells lies every day,” she said.
On the meeting, she said, as various organisations have shared their views, their suggestions would be reviewed, and eligible ones would be included in the election manifesto.
In Ramanathapuram district, demands regarding basic infrastructure deficiencies and specifically the issues faced by fishermen have been submitted and they would be reviewed, she added.
DMK District Secretary Kathabatcha Muthuramalingam delivered welcome address. Minister of Cooperation Periyakaruppan, DMK spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan, MLAs S. Murugesan and Tamilarasi, among other party members participated.
In this meeting, various organisations from Ramanathapuram district, including agricultural and trade unions, fishing associations, weavers, industrial groups, dry chili merchant associations, Muslim Jamaths, and Hindu and Christian organizations, presented their grievances and demands.
Responding to a question on BJP leader K. Annamalai, accusing the DMK Government for the delayed construction of the AIIMS building, Ms. Kanimozhi said that Mr. Annamalai was in a dream world.
“Union Government does not give adequate funds. It has also stopped projects for various reasons. In such a situation, he should not make baseless allegations. Union Ministers should have inspected (the progress of the work). The does not sto pfor various reason, blaming is baseless. The work was started with a delay of several years,” she said.
Ms. Kanimozhi, who is the head of the DMK’s manifesto preparation committee, was here on Tuesday to interact with people from various walks of life from Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar and Dindigul districts.
Hundreds of people representing various organisations, industries, farmers and traders gave their petitions with various demands.
Tamil Nadu Entrepreneurs Federation has demanded a district-level convention centre for exhibiting and sale of goods produced in the district.
The petition said that Virudhunagar district was known for goods like karasev of Sattur, nighties of Dhalavaipuram, fireworks and matches, diaries and notebooks, food grains and oil seeds and textile goods.
