MP vows action on Nunepalli railway underpass, convinces villagers to call of protest

Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari has assured to take proactive steps for the construction of a railway underpass bridge (RUB) at Nunepalli on the outskirts of Nandyal town.

The MP on Wednesday visited the protest camp at Nunepalli, where villagers under the banner of Nunepalli Development Committee, led by senior advocate B. Shankariah, had been staging a protest for the past two days demanding the construction of a railway underpass to resolve the traffic issues that have concerned them for several years.

Addressing the protestors, Ms. Shabari explained the measures taken by the alliance government, herself, Nandyal MLA and Minorities Welfare Minister N. Md. Farooq for the construction of railway underpass at Nunepalli. The MP said that the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government had neglected the issue, but she raised the issue with the Union Railway Ministry and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu two months after she assumed charge.

“We will hold a meeting at the District Collector’s office with Collector Rajakumari Ganiya, officials from Railways, Roads and Buildings and the municipal corporation today itself. The decisions taken in the meeting will reach the Chief Minister’s office by tomorrow (Thursday) to find a resolution to the issue,” Ms. Shabari said.

Meanwhile, the MP lauded the committee’s efforts and unity in taking up the issue and sought their cooperation in the future for developing Nunepalli.

Assuring the villagers that the issue would be resolved, she appealed to them to call off their protest. The MP said the villagers could restart their protest if the problem was not resolved.

After the villagers ended their protest, she inspected the railway track adjacent to the Nunepalli railway station to assess the need for a railway underpass.
