Woman Candidate Master Divi Bijesh of Kerala emerged as topper after beating Karnataka’s Nakshatra Gumudavelly in the final 11th round match of the National Under-11 Chess Championship that concluded in Mangaluru on Saturday.

The 10-year-old Fide Master (FM) Sarbartho Mani from West Bengal and 11-year-old Woman Candidate Master (WCM) Divi Bijesh from Kerala topped in the open and girls categories respectively of the 39th National Under-11 Chess Championship that concluded at the Indoor Stadium in Urwa of Mangaluru on Saturday.
In the last 11th round match on Saturday, Mr. Mani (FIDE rating 2273), playing with white pieces, defeated Devanarayanan Kalliyath of Kerala (FIDE rating 1847) and gained a total of 10.5 points to emerge as the topper in the open category. Candidate Master Sattwik Swain (FIDE rating 1989) from Odisha beat Ansh Kabra (FIDE rating 1888) from Uttar Pradesh to reach 9.5 points and emerge second. The top ranked FIDE Master Advik Amit Agrawal (FIDE rating 2376) of Maharashtra, playing with black pieces, defeated Ayansh Singh (FIDE rating 1813) of Uttar Pradesh, to reach 9 points and took the third place in the open category for boys.
In the final 11th round matches in girls category, top ranked WCM Ms. Bijesh (FIDE rating 2006) defeated WCM Nakshatra Gumudavelly (FIDE rating 1816) from Karnataka and topped with 9.5 points. Ms. Gumudavelly was placed in the fourth position with 8.5 points. Vanshika Rawat (FIDE rating 1700) of Delhi, playing with black, defeated Radhya Malhotra (FIDE rating 1715) of Punjab to get 9 points and reach the second position. Arena Fide Master Prisha Gholap (FIDE rating 1751) of Maharashtra drew with Sayyadh Raudah (FIDE rating 1633) of Telangana to reach 8.5 points and took the third place in the girl’s category.
The championship involving classical chess began on August 2.
