The National Democratic Alliance will certainly get 200 seats as the people of Tamil Nadu are disappointed and hence angered by the DMK’s fake poll promises that remain unfulfilled, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran has said.
During an informal chat with the reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Nainar Nagenthran said the AIADMK-led NDA would certainly win 200 seats in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Assembly elections as the people were ‘angered and very much disappointed’ over the poor performance of the M.K. Stalin-led government that failed miserably to fulfil the poll promises made in 2021. Instead, the DMK government was just rechristening the Central schemes to show as if these welfare programmes were theirs.
Even as the Stalin-led DMK government could not get even one medical college in the past five years, the previous Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led AIADMK government successfully got permission for starting 11 medical colleges in Tamil Nadu and implemented 7.50% reservation for government school students in medicine admission.
“Hence, the AIADMK, which leads NDA in Tamil Nadu, will return to power. The party getting more number of seats will form the government and Mr. Palaniswami will be the next Chief Minister,” Mr. Nainar Nagenthran said.
On speculations that he, fearing defeat, would move to some other constituency from Tirunelveli for this Assembly election, Mr. Nainar Nagenthran dismissed it saying that the survey conducted by him in Tirunelveli had ‘showed an increase of 20% votes’.
He also brushed aside the speculations about talks with the DMDK for electoral ties.
When asked for his comments on Congress’s prolonged demand for share in power in the new government and Mr. Stalin’s rejection of this demand, the BJP leader said: “He (Mr. Stalin), who does not fulfil the poll promises, knows very well that his party would lose the electoral battle and hence he has rejected the demand from Congress”.
