The Mysuru city police, which has planned elaborate security arrangements for the New Year 2026 celebrations, has issued instructions to conclude all the events planned to usher in the New Year by 1 a.m.
A set of guidelines issued by the Mysuru City Police Commissioner’s office said that the public, hotels, resorts, clubs, service apartments, apartment associations, malls and other organisations must obtain prior permission from the City Police Commissionerate for all New Year events to be held on the night of December 31.
A statement issued by the city police in this regard said shops, houses and establishments must install CCTV cameras on their premises to aid in any investigation if required.
The public has also been informed that the use of sound systems requires mandatory police permission. When permitted, these sound systems should be operated within the legally permitted decibel limits.
The use of DJ systems is prohibited. “Special monitoring teams have been formed, and violations will invite legal action,” the police statement cautioned.
“Obscene dances, vulgar behavior, consumption of narcotic substances, gambling, and causing public inconvenience on roads are strictly prohibited. Legal action will be taken against violators,” the police said.
Consumption of alcohol inside vehicles parked on the roads, parking areas, ring roads, and highways is prohibited, said the statement.
Posting provocative, misleading or fear-inducing content related to New Year celebrations on social media will also attract legal action. The public is advised to be cautious of fraudulent links and digital scams circulated through social media or messaging platforms.
Balloons banned
The city police has also banned the sale and use of balloons filled with gas using illegal cylinders.
“Strict action will be taken against the violators,” the police said. The warning comes after a cylinder carrying helium to fill balloons exploded near Mysuru palace and killed three persons.
