The NFDC–National Film Archive of India (NFDC–NFAI), Pune, has received three 35 mm Tamil cinema classic films starring actor Sivaji Ganesan, all directed by A.P. Nagarajan.
Aparna Subramanian, Film Research Officer at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has acquired the three classics.
The films are Thiruvarutchelvar (1967), Thillana Mohanambal (1968) and Thiruvilayadal (1965), and have been acquired in the national collection, according to a press release.
The acquisition of these films has helped in stocking a second surviving print for NFAI, giving greater flexibility in managing the preservation and use of these films, allowing one element to remain protected while the other can support activities such as reference, technical assessment, digitisation and comparative examination.
