New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) is undertaking a series of activities as part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada 2026, promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and community participation across the port throughout this week.
As part of the campaign, a mass plantation drive was organised by the Civil Engineering Department, led by S. Shanthi, deputy chairperson, NMPA, along with port employees.
An awareness and motivational workshop on ‘Clean & Green Mangaluru’ was also conducted, featuring Madhav Ullal, environmentalist, and Ranjan Bellarpady of Swachh Mangaluru Prathishtana, who shared insights on cleanliness, environmental conservation, and collective responsibility.
Adding a creative dimension to the campaign, employees of the Mechanical Engineering Department presented a nukkad naatak on cleanliness at the port premises. Through the street play, employees conveyed messages on cleanliness, responsible waste management, and the importance of adopting sustainable practices in everyday life.
