There is nothing special about Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s visit to New Delhi. It is a routine administrative issue. He holds two important portfolios and keeps visiting the national capital to meet Ministers and officers. It is not political, Satish Jarkiholi, Minister and Congress leader, said in Bagalkot on Tuesday.
“Karnataka is a big State with a population of seven crore and a Budget of ₹4 lakh crore. He is the Minister of two departments and the party president, so if there is work in any department, he has to go to Delhi,” he told reporters.
He said that K.N. Rajanna was a former Minister and a senior party leader. He has written a letter to Rahul Gandhi to give some information about the party, and there is nothing wrong with it. In fact, we had told him to go to New Delhi and meet the high command to present his point of view. He has met Mr. Shivakumar in Bengaluru. It is natural in a party for leaders to meet. It is also natural for some leaders to have differences of opinion, he said.
The Minister said that he hopes the party high command will end the confusion about the change of leadership in the State. The CM has made it clear several times. He has said he would act as per the high command’s wishes. He has also said there has been no agreement about power sharing, Mr. Jarkiholi said.
The CM and DCM will go to New Delhi for the Congress Working Committee meeting on December 27, he said. The agenda in such meetings is different. It will not be about leadership issues in the State, he said in response to a query. He said speculation about change of leadership after Sankranti were far from truth.
