The National Service Scheme (NSS) day was celebrated at the Advanced Institute for Integrated Research on Livestock and Animal Sciences (AIIRLIVAS) on Friday.
The programme was organised by the education cell, as a part of NSS day celebration of B.Tech Food Technology and Dairy Technology students of AIIRLIVAS.
The programme commenced with planting tree saplings under the theme ‘One Student One tree’, during which over 100 tree saplings were planted. K. Krishnakumar, director (in-charge) of AIIRIVAS, presided over the celebrations and delivered a special address.
He highlighted the significance of the NSS and its role in developing social responsibility, community participation and a spirit of service among students. He explained the significance of tree plantation activities which can mitigate the impact of the Super El Niño effect.
D. Priyadarshini, NSS programme officer, welcomed the gathering. Deenadayalan, finance officer, felicitated the gathering, and T. Venkateshwari proposed a vote of thanks.
