The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has decided to double the annual training fee for nursing diploma and B.Sc. students from private nursing schools and colleges undergoing training at GCC health facilities, while the fee for M.Sc. students has been raised by 25%.
A G.O. (D) No. 778 dated July 6, 2026, said the fee for Nursing Diploma students was revised from ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 per student per year and from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 for B.Sc. Nursing students. The fee for M.Sc. Nursing students has been increased from ₹6,000 to ₹7,500.
Following the Council’s approval at the council meeting recently, despite opposition from Tiruvottiyur CPI-M councillor R. Jayaraman, the GCC plans to implement the revised fee structure at GCC Urban Primary Health Centres, Urban Community Health Centres, and 24-hour hospitals.
