The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a chargesheet against nine accused in connection with an online radicalisation case.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Rehmatullah Shariff, Mohammed Danish, Mirza Sohail Baig, Lucky Ahmad, Jishan Abdul Majid, Mir Ashif Ali, Abdul Salaam, Sharuk Khan and Shaikh Faiz ur Rehman, had motivated and radicalised gullible youth to join violent terrorist activities, and also planned and prepared for making explosives and undertaking weapon training, according to the investigation.
A case was initially registered on March 26 earlier this year at Vijayawada II Town police station of the NTR Commissionerate. So far, 11 accused have arrested and a minor has been detained.
According to an NIA release, investigation has established that the accused, who are members and supporters of the proscribed terrorist organisation IS, entered into a larger conspiracy to support the activities of IS, primarily through social media platforms like Instagram, with the intention of establishing a caliphate in India through violent Jihad, thereby disrupting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.
Further investigation in the case against the remaining accused and other suspects is under way.
