Phalguni Nadi Ulisi Horata Samithi and other like-minded organisations on Friday, urged the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to put a complete end to the pollution of Phalguni river (Gurupura) by industrial effluents and domestic sewage, failing which they will be forced to launch an indefinite struggle.

Members of the organisations told KSPCB in a memorandum that Phalguni waters downstream Maravoor vented dam have turned black with aquatic life floating dead. Dissolved oxygen level has dropped to zero, while well water around Kulur Church, Raikatte, Panjimogaru, Thokur, Melppal, Atrebail, Bangakulur, Dambel etc. has become unfit for drinking.
