Junior doctors at Osmania General Hospital here temporarily called off their strike on Tuesday after Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and senior officials assured them that visible improvements would be made within 10 days.

The assurances aim to address deficiencies in patient care and medical education at Osmania Medical College and Osmania General Hospital

The strike had begun on Monday to highlight critical gaps in hospital infrastructure, essential medical supplies, diagnostic facilities and equipment. The doctors also flagged shortcomings in the academic environment for undergraduate students and postgraduate residents.

Clarifying that it was only a temporary suspension of strike, the doctors said they had not withdrawn their demands. “We will closely monitor the implementation of the assurances and expect concrete, measurable progress within the promised timeline,” they said.
