More than 4.29 lakh candidates have entered the race for 7,437 posts across the Police and allied departments in Telangana, with the recruitment process drawing over 5.77 lakh applications.
The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB), which closed the online application window on September 16, said the preliminary written examination for Sub-Inspector (SI) Civil and equivalent posts is tentatively scheduled for November 29, while the examination for Police Constable (PC) Civil and equivalent posts is likely to be held on December 20.
The recruitment drive, notified on July 29, covers 7,437 vacancies across the Police, Special Protection Force, Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence, and Prisons and Correctional Services departments. Of these, 298 are SI/ASI-level posts and 7,139 are PC-level posts. The Police Department accounts for the bulk of the vacancies with 5,000 posts.
At the close of applications, around 4.29 lakh individual candidates had submitted 5,77,064 applications, meaning each candidate applied for an average of 1.34 posts. Around 68.45% submitted a single application, while 28.88% applied for two posts.
The recruitment drive also saw 1,46,220 applications from women, accounting for 25.33% of the total, while men submitted 4,30,844 applications, or 74.66%. BC candidates accounted for 49.19% of all applications, while SC and ST candidates together accounted for 43.60%.
The State government’s age relaxation is estimated to have benefited nearly 1.13 lakh candidates. The relaxation was seven years over the prescribed maximum age for SI/ASI-level and SCT PC Driver posts and 10 years for other PC-level posts.
This recruitment also introduced Aadhaar face authentication for the first time. The Board said 97.4% of candidates successfully completed the process while submitting their applications. The remaining 2.6% have until September 30 to complete authentication through their login accounts.
For SI Civil and equivalent posts, 1,60,756 applications were received, while PC Civil and equivalent posts drew 3,89,356 applications. The two categories will undergo a three-stage selection process beginning with the preliminary written test. Technical streams, including ASI Finger Print Bureau, PC Driver and PC Mechanic, will begin with the Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test.
The SI preliminary examination is expected to be held on November 29 at the erstwhile 10 district headquarters, while the PC examination is likely to be conducted on December 20 at 15 to 18 locations across Telangana.
