THINK Gas, one of India’s leading city gas distribution companies, has partnered with Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) to launch its first captive CNG outlet in Ramanathapuram.
The outlet is strategically located inside TNSTC bus depot in Ramanathapuram to support the fuelling requirements of over 100 CNG-powered government buses in the region.
A captive CNG outlet is an exclusive fuelling facility for government CNG buses within the bus depot, enabling them to refuel as part of regular operations while supporting the transition to cleaner fuel for public transportation. The initiative marks an important step in expanding cleaner fuel infrastructure for public transportation in Ramanathapuram and supporting the adoption of CNG-powered government buses in the region.
The expansion is supported by THINK Gas’ robust CGD infrastructure and pipeline network in the region, enabling the company to meet the growing demand for CNG and PNG and expand access to natural gas for public transportation and other consumer segments.
The company has established 220 km of MDPE pipeline and 13 km of steel pipeline, taking its total pipeline network across the currently gasified areas of Ramanathapuram and Rameswaram to 233 km.
The company’s Tamil Nadu zonal head, N.T. Thirukkumaran, said the partnership with TNSTC to launch a captive CNG outlet in Ramanathapuram reflected the broader focus on supporting cleaner public transportation through dedicated fuelling infrastructure.
Regional head E. Alagurajan said the launch of the captive CNG outlet at Ramanathapuram Bus Depot was an important development for the region, as it brought dedicated CNG fuelling infrastructure closer to the operations of government buses.
