The Poompuhar showroom, an undertaking of Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, has launched a sales promotion of idols and dolls in Thanjavur ahead of the Navaratri festival this week, with a sales target of ₹40 lakh. The sale-cum-exhibition was inaugurated by Thanjavur District Collector R.Revathi on Thursday and will be held until October 31. The dolls and handicrafts are made of wood, ceramic powder, clay and other materials.
Among the collections on offer are sets showing ‘Sugreeva Yudham’, ‘Nava Tirupati’, Andal-Krishna, and others. Besides the work of Tamil Nadu-based artisans, the promotion includes idols and handicrafts created by craftsmen from Rajasthan, Delhi, Pune, and Kolkata.
The exhibition is being held at the Poompuhar showroom in Thanjavur from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A discount of 10% will be offered as part of the festive promotion.
