‘Porunai Book Fair’ to be held from February 12 to 22

The 9^th ‘Porunai Book Fair’ will be held at Tirunelveli Corporation Trade Centre from February 12 to 22, District Collector R. Sukumar said.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday evening, Dr. Sukumar said the 11-day book fair, besides selling the books on a range of topics, would also showcase the cultural heritage and the ancient pride of Tirunelveli district to the visitors.

Over 115 publishers would set-up their stalls to sell books on a range of topics including literature, fiction, competitive exams, music, farming, architecture, medicine, engineering, artificial intelligence, data science etc. Moreover, experts would be there for career guidance and counselling.

Since the Assembly election is to be held in April or May this year, a mock polling station will also be a part of this book fair, Dr. Sukumar said.

Lectures by eminent writers and the speakers will entertain the visitors in the evening while food stalls by the self-help groups will serve authentic local food stuff.

Competitions for school and the college students, workshops on handicrafts and journalism and cultural events by the students will be conducted everyday.

Accompanied by writers and Sahitya Akademic Award winners Vannadasan and Vimala and Soodamani, the Collector released the logo of the book fair.
