As part of its ongoing efforts to promote awareness of the city’s rich cultural heritage, the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Mysuru, organised a heritage walk in the city on February 4 for officers and trainees from the Postal Training Centre who had arrived from various States.
The heritage walk, which commenced at 7 a.m., focused on the contributions of the Mysuru royal family and the significance of heritage structures and their architecture. Historian N.S. Rangaraju, who was the resource person, shared detailed insights into the history, architecture, and importance of the landmarks covered during the walk.
The walk began at Town Hall and proceeded through key historical locations, including the Silver Jubilee Clock Tower (Dodda Gadiyara), Freemasons’ Club, Chamaraja Wadiyar Circle, the Ambavilas Palace, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Circle, Chikka Gadiyara, before concluding near Devaraja Market.
The department has been organising heritage walks every Wednesday for students, trainees, heritage enthusiasts, and the general public to share insights into the city’s historical and cultural significance.
