Residents of Shoolagiri panchayat demanded water and basic amenities for their village at the weekly grievances meeting held at the Krishnagiri Collectorate on Monday (October 12, 2026).

Women of Pannapalli Panchayat and Lakshmipuram village arrived with empty water pots, demanding water. According to the protesters, their village, with over 90 households, depended on a borewell that pumped water to the overhead tank. Now the borewell has dried up, and residents are forced to walk a few kilometres to fetch water.

The protesters also added that the village has over 30 children, but there was no anganwadi centre. Children are forced to walk three km on the roads riddled with potholes.

According to the women, their village lacked bare minimum amenities starting with roads, water or anganwadis. They also alleged that despite multiple petitions, there was apathy from the officials.

Following the protests, Shoolagiri Deputy Tahsildar spoke to the protesters and assured them that their demand for water will be met. They were told that water will be supplied through tractors until a borewell was sunk. Their other demands will also be addressed, the officials added.
