A review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision exercise with the political parties was chaired by Special Roll Observer Kuldip Narayan at the Collectorate here on Monday.
Mr. Narayan said, the purpose of the Special Intensive Revision exercise that was being carried out after nearly two decades was not just removal of double entries, but also to ensure inclusion of the names of the voters elsewhere. “If a voter had shifted from village to a town, or city and has been deleted from those rolls, it also meant that voter’s name is being added elsewhere in the place to where they had migrated,” Mr. Narayan said.
He underlined the role of the political parties in ensuring that no voter was being left out. The roll revision was not possible without the active participation of the political parties, he added.
Collector and District Electoral Officer C. Dinesh Kumar said, for instance if a worker from Tirupathur was working and settled in Hosur for five years, his name is eliminated in Tirupathur and also ensured that he is included in the rolls in Hosur. He called upon political parties to help out with the exercise and participate efficiently.
