The Andhra Pradesh Government is set to launch the third phase of its rural development programme, Palle Panduga 3.0, on September 29, with works estimated at ₹11,085 crore to be taken up across villages.
In a press release on Sunday, the government said works planned under the programme included construction of 6,000 km of cement concrete (CC) roads at an estimated cost of ₹2,700 crore and 9,500 km of bitumen roads at ₹7,550 crore.
The government also proposed to construct 22,000 mini Gokulams, or cattle sheds, for dairy farmers at a cost of ₹300 crore. Another ₹225 crore was earmarked for developing horticultural plantations over 50,000 acres.
The programme also includes construction of 1,000 km of ‘magic drains’ at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore. Works such as bus shelters, gram panchayat buildings and Rachabanda platforms will be taken up with an allocation of ₹200 crore.
“Of the total estimated expenditure, the Centre’s share will be ₹5,391 crore and the State’s contribution ₹5,694 crore,” the release said.
The government said works would be funded through various schemes and institutions, including ₹1,750 crore under VB-G RAM G, ₹3,800 crore under the Global Horticulture Hub initiative and ₹2,000 crore through NABARD, SASCI and other sources.
The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department said several works had already been taken up under the first two phases. Under first phase, 4,000 km of CC roads were constructed, along with 22,514 cattle sheds and 21,000 farm ponds, while horticultural crops were raised over 64,000 acres.
Under second phase, the government took up 2,500 km of CC roads and 8,300 km of BT roads, besides constructing 15,750 cattle sheds, 15,500 cattle water troughs, 86,000 farm ponds, 82,000 individual soak pits and 32 km of magic drains.
The government said Palle Panduga 3.0 was aimed at expanding infrastructure and development works in rural areas through convergence of Central and State funds, the release said.
