Seven Maoist militia members from Chhattisgarh and a courier of Maoists on Saturday (January 24) surrendered before Ramagundam Police Commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha in Ramagundam of Peddapalli district.
According to the police, the seven surrendered militia members hail from Gampur village in Bijapur district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh. They were active in Dandakaranya forest region bordering Telangana.
Among those surrendered include 33-year-old Dharmaji Srikanth, a ‘courier’ of the outlawed outfit.
He had worked as a ‘courier’ of senior Maoist leaders — Kankanala Raji Reddy, Azad and Damodar. He hails from Itikyal village of Velgatur mandal in Jagtial district.
