Silver ornaments that were seized for want of valid documents in Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency in Erode district in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.

Officials of the static surveillance team (SST) seized 18.7 kg of silver ornaments worth ₹51 lakh during a vehicle check near Dhimbam bus stop in the Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency here on Tuesday (March 24, 2026).
According to officials, the team intercepted a car bearing a Kerala registration number during a routine inspection within the limits of the Hasanur police station. The vehicle, which was travelling from Thrissur in Kerala to Mysuru and Bengaluru in Karnataka, was found to be carrying silver ornaments without valid documents.
The consignment was in the possession of Nelson (52) of Thrissur. As he failed to produce valid documents for the goods, officials seized the items and handed them over to the Returning Officer of the Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency for further action.
