Skeletal remains of tusker found in Boluvampatti forest range

Skeletal remains of a male wild elephant were found in a dense forest area in the Boluvampatti range of the Coimbatore Forest Division on Thursday. Frontline staff found the skeletal remains along the side of a stream while engaged in surveillance camera inspection works within the Poondi Central forest beat. The tusks of the elephant were found intact in the skull. Other skeletal remains were found scattered around the area. As per the orders of the District Forest Officer, a post-mortem examination was conducted by a veterinary team. The post-mortem examination revealed that the deceased elephant was aged around 20 and it could have died over a year ago.
