Special camps to submit claims and objections in draft electoral roll held in Salem

Special camps to submit claims and objections regarding the recently published draft electoral roll were held at all polling booths in Salem district on Saturday (December 27, 2025).

The secretary of the Commercial Taxes and Registration Department and Electoral Roll Observer Shilpa Prabhakar Satish, along with Salem District Collector R. Brindha Devi, inspected the special camp at Puliyampatti near Omalur and later conducted a meeting with officials and recognised political party representatives at the Salem Collectorate.

Ms. Shilpa said the draft electoral roll for 11 Assembly constituencies in Salem district was released on December 19. The special camps are conducted so that voters can submit their claims and objections regarding the list, if any. The camps will be held at 1,346 polling stations (3,468 polling booths) on Sunday (December 28) and on January 3 and 4, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Persons who will complete 18 years of age on January 1, 2026 (born before December 31, 2007), whose names are missing from the electoral roll, should use Form 6 to add their names to the electoral roll and Form 7 to remove names. Necessary steps have been taken to utilise Form 8 to change address of residence, correct entries in the current electoral roll, and obtain a replacement voter photo identity card, the secretary added.
