A special ticket checking drive conducted by the staff of the Tiruchi Railway Division on August 14 resulted in the realisation of ₹7.38 lakh as penalty.
The drive was conducted under the direction of the Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi Balak Ram Negi, and under the leadership of the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Tiruchi, P. Venkataragavan.
Fine amount of over ₹4.44 lakh was collected from 545 ticketless travellers and over ₹2.84 lakh fine amount was collected from 396 passengers found travelling in reserved compartments with unreserved tickets. This was the highest fine amount collected by the ticket checking teams of the division in a single day, a release from the division said.
