The Dharwad district administration will conduct a special voter registration drive at all polling stations in the district on Saturday and Sunday (September 19 and 20) as part of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls 2026.
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Snehal R. has appealed to eligible citizens to make use of the two-day exercise. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) will be present at the polling stations during the drive.
Of the 16,21,961 electors in the district, details of 13,53,946 electors, or 83.48%, have been verified and included in the draft electoral roll. During verification, 2,68,015 electors were identified under the ASDDO categories, including absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate entries, besides other categories.
The number of such electors identified was 22,628 in Navalgund, 19,078 in Kundgol, 32,007 in Dharwad, 47,034 in Hubballi-Dharwad East, 65,844 in Hubballi-Dharwad Central, 64,623 in Hubballi-Dharwad West, and 16,801 in Kalghatgi.
The district currently has 1,665 polling stations across seven Assembly constituencies. With the approval of the Election Commission, steps have been initiated to increase the number to 1,707.
Over 51,000 applications received
Between July 16 and September 15, the district received 51,172 applications under Forms 6, 7 and 8. Of these, 3,681 applications were from Navalgund, 3,689 from Kundgol, 8,637 from Dharwad, 9,582 from Hubballi-Dharwad East, 10,310 from Hubballi-Dharwad Central, 10,962 from Hubballi-Dharwad West, and 4,311 from Kalghatgi.
As of September 16, a total of 7,941 young electors had been added to the electoral rolls. The figures were 1,159 in Navalgund, 937 in Kundgol, 1,174 in Dharwad, 1,206 in Hubballi-Dharwad East, 991 in Hubballi-Dharwad Central, 1,053 in Hubballi-Dharwad West, and 1,421 in Kalghatgi.
During the special voter registration drive held on August 29 and 30, the district received 3,343 claims and objections.
Eligible persons whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll, those unavailable during house-to-house verification, shifted electors, and eligible residents not registered in any constituency may submit applications for inclusion. Those turning 18 as of October 1 may also submit Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration.
Under the ongoing revision process, 47,937 notices have been generated, of which 41,114 have been served. Hearings have been completed in 17,075 cases, while a second opportunity is being provided to 8,925 electors who did not attend.
A total of 6,231 cases are pending, while 10,818 applications have been forwarded for final processing. Details of 11,19,627 electors have been prepared for final publication.
More registration officers
The administration has increased the number of Assistant Electoral Registration Officers from 67 to 78, including additional officers.
They will be available at the taluk and urban ward levels to assist citizens with enrolment, correction, and deletion-related issues. Citizens have been advised to approach them with the required documents.
