A two-day national seminar focused on the economic transformation of Andhra Pradesh opened at St. Joseph’s College for Women (autonomous) on Monday. The event, titled “Investment & Inclusive Growth in AP: Pathways to Sustainable Development,” brought together bureaucrats, academics, and researchers to discuss strategies for the State’s long-term progress.
The seminar, jointly organised by the Departments of Economics and Psychology, was inaugurated by Roshni Aparanji Korati, deputy chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority. The college vice principal Sr. Hema presided over the programme.
In her inaugural address, Ms. Roshni highlighted that the secret to sustainable development lies in a “port-led” economy and strong public-private partnerships. She emphasised that growth is only truly “inclusive” when it empowers women at every level.
“Students and researchers must move beyond textbooks and contribute innovative, real-world solutions to the challenges our State faces today,” she said.
Andhra University former rector M. Prasada Rao, participated as the keynote speaker, and detailed the importance of policy-driven frameworks to attract global investment.
GITAM Deemed to be University faculty K. Suneetha explored the psychosocial dimensions of development, reminding the audience that economic numbers must translate into social well-being.
Seminar convener Ramani Latha shared that more than 50 lecturers and researchers from across the region participated in the sessions.
