Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay demanded that the State government release funds to all Gram Panchayats across the State within the next one month.
He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony for the newly elected BJP-backed sarpanches, vice-sarpanches and ward members in Karimnagar on Wednesday.
He warned of a massive agitation involving all elected representatives of the gram panchayats in Hyderabad if the Congress government failed to release funds for the panchayats within a month.
He further demanded that the MPTC, ZPTC and municipal elections be conducted only after the release of panchayat funds.
Mr. Sanjay said villages in Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency that elected BJP-supported sarpanches would be developed into model villages.
He added that drinking water plants will be set up in all these villages and required medical equipment will be provided to the respective Primary Health Centres. Additionally, toilets will be constructed in government schools and bicycles will be distributed to Class IX students under the leadership of sarpanches, he said.
He insisted that the State government should appoint adequate staff in the PHCs.
