A stray dog died after Municipality workers struck the dog while attempting to capture it in Salem on Thursday (February 5, 2026).
On Thursday, few stray dogs were attacking each other near the Sankari bus stand in the Salem district. On information, the Sankari Municipality conservancy workers went to the spot and chased the dogs away and tried to capture it. At that time, a worker hit a dog using an iron pipe on its head and the dog died on the spot. Later, the workers took the dog in a garbage vehicle and buried it in the garbage dump yard in the Municipality.
A few persons recorded this incident and uploaded it on social media, which was widely shared. The Sankari Municipality officials are inquiring into the incident.
