Students lead the way with novel ideas at Vision Mysuru grand finale

The grand finale of Vision Mysuru 2050, an ideation challenge, was successfully conducted on the SDMIMD campus. The event brought together student innovators, civic leaders, industry experts, and academic stalwarts, united by a shared commitment to shaping the future of Mysuru. Of the 317 citizen submissions received from across the city, the top 5 ideas were shortlisted through a rigorous multi-round evaluation process and presented to a jury at the grand finale.

The Vision Mysuru 2050 title was awarded to the Shudhi Project by Team Eco Prabal, represented by Dishaa Arjun and team, from Excel Public School, Mysuru. They received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 along with a memento jointly sponsored by SDMIMD and rProcess Outsourcing Services Pvt. Ltd.

The second prize was awarded to Team Gandabherunda, represented by Rohith R. Kuthnikar, for the project M15 Grid. Mr. Rohith, working at L&T Ltd., Mysuru, received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a memento jointly sponsored by the Mysuru Grahakara Parishat (MGP) and the Minds United for Health Sciences and Humanity Trust, Mysuru.

The grand jury panel comprised Nitesh Patil, Regional Commissioner, Revenue Department, Mysuru division; Vaishali Hanamanth, managing partner, DRC Cinemas; Leslie Moras, former principal, St. Philomena College, Mysuru; Ravishankar, CEO of Aim High Consulting; and Shruthi Sudhanva, executive director and board member of Excelsoft Technologies.

Nitesh Patil, who commended the young participants for their innovative thinking and active civic involvement, said such grassroots ideation initiatives hold the potential to become a transformative movement for Mysuru in the years to come. He stressed that exercises of this nature must be continued on a year-on-year basis, as they serve as a vital channel to bring fresh ideas and actionable initiatives to the attention of the authorities.

The Regional Commissioner further said that Vision Mysuru 2050 can serve as a meaningful and enduring bridge between the public and the district authorities — a platform united by a singular purpose: the betterment of ‘Namma Mysuru’.

Lt. Col. S.N. Prasad, director of SDMIMD, Mysuru, spoke on the objective behind Vision Mysuru 2050, which is to bring together young minds to reflect on and shape the future of Namma Mysuru. He said that the platform successfully identified implementable ideas and actionable insights.
