Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in-charge Executive Officer (EO) Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary announced that the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) super speciality hospital was all set to offer advanced cancer care to all patients.
Participating in the ‘World Cancer Day’ programme observed at the hospital, here on Wednesday, along with its Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.V. Kumar, Mr. Chowdary said that the hospital was a blessing for cancer patients in Rayalaseema region.
The hospital has developed its Advanced Cancer Care building at a cost of ₹120 crore, with 300 beds, five Intensive Care Units (ICU), and other modern equipment. The facility will be inaugurated shortly, he said.
SVIMS also runs two pink buses to the countryside to facilitate early cancer screening among rural women. Meanwhile, 730 camps have been conducted so far to screen 42,609 women, of which 3,226 have been referred to SVIMS and 759 treated.
Dr. Kumar called cancer as a curable disease and appealed the public not to shy away from getting diagnosed early. Earlier, Mr. Chowdary participated in an awareness rally and released posters.
